My name is Katrice, and I’m the administrator and creator of the site. I’d like to thank you for taking the time out to visit. I really appreciate it, and hope that I can help you in your quest to learn French. I understand how difficult learning a language can be, and I know that every little bit helps.
I’ve been learning and speaking French for about thirteen years now, and I’m in love with the language. I’m proud of having gotten this far and I want to share what I know with others just starting to learn. My goal is not simply to provide textbook lessons, but dabble with different lesson types to appeal to any kind of student. Some people learn best by reading, and for that, I’ve made lessons. Still, others need videos and sound, and I try to find resources for that. I also hope to connect others with the French culture. It’s important, not only to speak the language, but to speak it with the attitude and feel of a native. That can’t really be done unless one knows about the culture behind the language, so I’m here to help you with that as well.
My site is called Un Autre Compte (Another Account) because of my notorious habit of creating new blogs and social media accounts, only to abandon them later. Rest assured, though, I have no intention of dropping this site any time soon.
A little about me personally: I fancy myself a linguist. I’ve dabbled in Norwegian, Japanese, Danish, Spanish, German, Korean, and, of course, French. I enjoy nerd culture (Doctor Who, Star Trek, DC Comics, etc). I like food a lot, and those who have shared a meal with me understand that I am a bottomless pit. I am a computer programmer and novelist. When I’m not editing this site or working with the Instagram page that goes with it, I’m usually watching shows or movies, reading books or comics, writing, or playing video games.
